OBJECTIVES:
● To kindle interest in reading literature.
● To help students to understand, learn from and enjoy literary texts, especially poetry.
● To enable the student to read and respond creatively, drawing on their own
imagination and experience.
● To appreciate reading as a social experience.
COURSE OUTCOMES:
Upon completing the course students will:
● Be able to appreciate poems aesthetically.
● Engage in close analysis and understand the literary devices that enhance the beauty
of the poem.
● Learn to consider literature as a communal experience.
● To inculcate a deeper admiration of the cultural diversity expressed in the poems.
● Be familiar with how literature reveals the human condition through its various
strategies.
