Objectives
● To make the learner aware of Gandhiji’s role in National movement in India
● To make the learner critically analyze the mass struggles against the colonial rule in India.
● To make the learner aware of the various resistance movements against the British rule
● To make the learner aware of the impact of Quit India and second world war on freedom
struggle
● To make the learner aware of the different processes that led to the formation of Indian
republic
● To make the learner aware of the importance of Nehru in the development of contemporary
India
Course Outcome
This course is the second part of the course designed to be introduced to the students of
other disciplines as an Ancillary course. The course covers the history of anti- colonial National
movement of India from Gandhian phase up to independence. The course will provide students an
idea about the long term dynamics of our National movement and help them to imbibe the ideals of
democracy and secularism.
